The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the arts of performing, and which are now known by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to be in the "child prodigy" category. This is a natural trait for a girl of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in the beginning by gifted family members and parents. Maureen arrived in this nurturing haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share of "The Shamrock Rovers," an eminent Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. This was apparent when she was awarded each Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to offer. At the age of 14, she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying operatic and classical vocals.
